FAA requirements:

Age - 17+ years old. 
Medical Certificate - (1st, 2nd, or 3rd Class)
Education requirements - Able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Flying time requirement - Minimum of 40 hours of flight training. This must include: Conversely, if you fly twice a week, it will probably take fewer total hours to get your license. This training must include a minimum of:
  • 20 hours of dual instruction including:
  • 3 hours of cross-country to airports more than 50 miles away
  • 3 hours of instruments
  • 3 hours of night including a 100 nautical mile round trip and 10 night takeoffs and landings
  • 3 hours of instruction within 60 days prior to your practical test
  • 10 hours of solo flight including:
  • 5 hours of cross-country including a 150 nautical mile round trip
  • 3 takeoffs and landing at an airfield with a control tower

Examinations:
1. Private pilot knowledge test with a score of 70% or better. There are 60 multiple choice questions.
2. Practical flight test with an FAA-designated examiner. Nationwide, the pass rate is about 90% for students on their first try! The exam contents are defined by the FAA's Practical Test Standard (PTS), and it includes both an oral exam and a flight test.

Overview

Huntsville Flight Center is a part 61 flight training. A total of 40 hours of flight time. All of our training for the private license is done in Cessna 172's. They feature the latest navigation equipment that allows today's aviators to better acclimate themselves to modern equipment and modern methods of navigation. Our ground instruction is done using the Cessna Multimedia Training System. This program has proven to decrease the total hours the average pilot must log in order to receive their certificate.  In addition to lower time requirements, the program allows you to switch instructors at any time. This guarantees that whenever you want to fly, you will fly.

Looking to save money? Try our Block Payment Plan! Pay in $1400 increments (first payment add $329 for the starter kit) and the total savings throughout the program will total just shy of $480 for the entire course. This reduces the cost of the aircraft rental and the flight instruction by $5 per hour each for a total saving of 10 dollars per hour (with instructor) in addition the cost of the starter kit is reduced by $49.
